Carl Rodenburg (Born 17 may 1894 in Geestemünde; d. November 5 , 1992 in Greven) was a German officer, last Lieutenant-General during World War II.
Life in 1912 he entered the 5. Baden Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 113 and took part in the first world war with this. At the surrender, he held the rank of a Lieutenant.
After the war, he was taken into the Reichswehr and was among other things a company commander in the 14th Infantry Regiment (Badisches) and Commander of the 12th infantry regiment. Later, then in the army, he was commander of the infantry school in Döberitz teaching staff Lieutenant Colonel.
During World War II , he fought as Commander of infantry regiment 203 in the France campaign (1940), in the area of Verdun and Toul. With this regiment he was also in 1941 deployed on the eastern front, where he among other things was a crossing of the Dnieper River and broke through the Stalin line .
Early 1942 he was commander of the 76. Infanterie Division, which fought in Stalingrad . On 8 October 1942, Carl Rodenburg was awarded the Knight's cross of the iron cross and on 31 January 1943 the oak leaves to the Knight's cross. On the same day, he went with Paul to Soviet prisoner of war. In October 1955, Rodenburg was released from captivity.
