As: Major Kommandeur, III. Abteilung, Fallschirm-Panzer-Regiment Hermann Göring, Fallschirm-Panzer-Division 1 "Hermann Göring"
Awarded for his Abteilung’s success during the fighting north of Radom in August 1944. Here they were able to seal off a Soviet armoured breakthrough and crush those opposing forces that became isolated behind German lines. All told Sandrock’s forces destroyed a total of 123 Soviet tanks during this battle.
Also awarded the Tank Assault Badge for 50 engagements
