LUFTWAFFE CANTEEN/BARRACKS RADIO SIEMENS K32 GWB
Luftwaffe canteen/barracks radio. Radio contained in a wooden case measuring 17 ½” x 7 ½” x 12”. Radio is centered in the upper front of the case, measuring 8 1/2” x 3 ½”. There are two bakelite knobs situated on each side of the plastic tuning destination plate which has numerous European cities. Below the radio is the speaker measuring 8” x 6”. On either side of the radio/speaker compartment are two spring loaded doors measuring 4 ¼” x 10”. These two doors when closed protect the radio/speaker compartment, when closed they lock and are released by a button centered on the top front of the cabinet. Displayed on each door are painted Luftwaffe eagles measuring 3 ¾” x 2”. Centered on the top of the cabinet is a fold down carrying handle. The plate on the carrying handle is stamped 5694. Above the carrying handle plate is a stencil SIEMENS with the company logo and the radio designation K32 GWB. Two the right of the handle is a rectangular component with two holes for receiving a plug, one hole marked A one hole marked E. On the left side is a polygon component for receiving a plug. The back of the radio has two threaded bolts which when unscrewed, lifts the panel up to reveal the interior of the radio. Centered on the rear panel is a painted Luftwaffe eagle measuring 10 ½” x 5 1/2”. Each corner is protected by a sheet metal covering. The case is painted a Luftwaffe blue/grey. There are some chips to the case, but overall condition is good. A most unusual item.
